Flying Ruler serves as a tape measure, ruler, protractor, and goniometer all in one app, providing the fastest way to measure distances and angles. It utilizes the principles of the inertial navigational system (INS), utilizing the accelerometer and gyroscope to accurately determine the position of your device.
The app offers different modes depending on your preference for each occasion. Whether measuring with the body of the device or a virtual ruler, you can measure objects or even distances between two walls. Angles can be measured on surfaces or between surfaces in space.
You have the option to choose between inches and centimeters, and the maximum distance is determined by an indicator - 999 ft for imperial units and 99 m for metric units. With Flying Ruler, you can measure large and small distances with the same precision as a standard ruler.
Additionally, you can save measurements by taking photographs and marking the corresponding locations. Don't forget to share the app's impressive functionality with your friends and colleagues.
ACCURACY OF MEASUREMENT:
We conducted a series of 100 measurements with the following results:
On iPhone 13:
- Mean squared error - 0.14%
- Maximum inaccuracy - 0.4%
On iPhone 7:
- Mean squared error - 0.15%
- Maximum inaccuracy - 0.4%
On iPhone 6s:
- Mean squared error - 0.28%
- Maximum inaccuracy - 1.1%
The accuracy of measurements varies depending on the device, with the error rarely exceeding 1.5%. By taking a series of measurements, you can increase accuracy, usually achieving an error degree of 0.3% or less.
The app offers angle measurements with an accuracy of one degree, making it a suitable replacement for both protractors and goniometers.
